Rainy Days in Villages

Jun 15

Hola Americans! It\'s Lauren and Emily here from Guatemala. Thanks to all the prayers, Emily is feeling a lot better and was able to go with us to our last village mission. It is amazing what God can do when we just ask. This whole trip has been about answered prayers, thanks to all of you!

Today we woke up, as usual at 6:00 for our early morning devotions. Today was especially wonderful. We all gathered around who we felt led to pray for. It ended up with everyone crying and praying together. God really showed up. Then we headed off to the village. Our\'s was even higher in the mountian than yesturday\'s..and we even were inside of a cloud at one point! It was freezing all day long and we tried our best to keep warm. We went on prayer walks through the village, counciled the poor, gave medicine to the sick, and loved on the children. Their all so grateful for what we do. It really is a blessing to be part of such a fantastic trip. We really suggest that you pray about going one year, it will change your life forever.

We just ate dinner together and now everyone is chilling out, playing games, and talking. One of our favorite games to play is catch phrase, but we also like man hunt. These games bring our team close together and we never stop laughing. Please pray that tomorow we will be safe in Antigua as we go shopping! Love you all and we are praying for you as well as you pray for us.

Prayer walks and grateful hearts

Jun 14

Hello everyone! Today, it\'s just Lauren. Emily has been throwing up. Please pray that everyone will stay healthy because motion sickness has been very bad today. Other than that, it has been another fantastic day in Guatemala! God continues to show up in mind blowing ways...

We woke up early as usual for our two hour devotions. Herman did amazing today as he talked about intamacy with God. It seems like he always knows what to say to us! Then we headed off to another village. We spent two hours on a super curvey road (hence the motion sickness). We climbed up a beautiful mountian with the view of three huge volcanoes....This is Sarah Kate, one of the 24 saying helloooo from GUATEMALA ;)....When we finally arrived the view was breath taking and the people were welcoming. All of the children just run up to us and jump in our arms. The love that they have for strangers is outstanding.

The day was filled with counseling many sweet people. It was difficult because most were Catholic, and couldn\'t understand that good works wouldn\'t earn them salvation. Please pray that God will soften their hearts. We also played with the kids (this involved the usual, balloon animals and face paint). We gave them all new shoes and their smiles were unforgettable. They are so grateful for anything. The prayer walks are great. We walk around the village and pray that the Holy Spirit will fill it. It was a great experince.

Please pray that the new Christians that we have led to Christ will be encouraged. It is hard being a Christian in this small town and there are very few. Also pray for our day tomorow, as we head off to our last Medical Mission Village. Lastly, pray for rest. We\'re all very exhausted from all of our hard work. Even though it\'s hard though, we are having an incredible time! Thanks everyone for your prayer and support!! We love you all very much.

Another day in the Village

Jun 13

iBuenos Noches! It\'s day four here in Guatemala and were having an incredible time. I don\'t think you could understand the experience unless you have been here...but being a blogger we will do our best to fill you in on the news! Enjoy...

We woke up at the usual, 6:00 to hear another amazing devotion. Herman is so amazing at his two hour devotions that we didn\'t want it to end. He always knows just what to say and how to say it. After that we all loaded into cars. Most of us slept on the windey road up the mountian to the village. The church we went to was in the middle of a very busy part of town and saying that it was crouded would be an understatement. We got to know all of our amazing translators who really are incredible. This day was full of prayer walks, new Christians, laughter, healing, and answers to prayers.

For lunch we ate at the pastors house. This man was a very godly man and served us with love. At the pastors house it was a great experience. We take our homes so much for granted. This house was made of pieces of metal nailed together, and yet they were one of the most happiest families we know of. This man\'s brother has some disease that has not been cured by a doctor. Nobody seems to know what the disease is. Please pray for this man. He needs healing and hope. Also keep continue to pray for safty, miracles and our health.

Church and Orphanage

Jun 12

Hello Americans! Today was another awesome day in Guatemala! In the morning we all rolled out of bed and went to a church in Antiqua. It was all in Spanish, and even though it was hard to understand through the translating head phones, it was still an incredible experience. The worship was great too. After, we walked around Antiqua and saw a festival going on in the park. So many people tried to sell us bracelets, scarfs, and other things. One little boy even shined one of Fellowship\'s leaders shoes! Antiqua is so beautiful and we can\'t wait until Thursday, when we can shop. There are volcanoes surrounding it and it has amazing weather. After, we went to Chili\'s and we ate so much amazing food!

After Chilis we went to an orphanage. When we got off the bus the little kids attacked us. They were all so adorble and clinged to you so much. Some of them new very little english but it was still fun to play with them.  Two little girls caught a HUGE grasshopper and threw it in Jeff Reamer\'s face....if you know Jeff Reamer then you would know he would have freaked out. It was hilarious and added to the great time. We were there for about 2 hours and it was so sad to leave them. We all wanted to bring them home. We tomorrow we will have  a great time in the villages! PLease pray for miracles and healing during our visit.

The Endless Smiles.

Jun 11

Hello from Guuatemala! This morning after eating breakfast at 7:00 am we had a 2 hour devotion with Dr. Herman. This devotion consited of singing, reading the Bible, and praying together. After our devotion we piled in 6 different cars and headed up to a village in the mountains.

The village was 2 hours away and when we finally arrived there we played with the children they were so adorable and it was amazing to see how content they were with what little they had. They were so sweet to eachother and nice. For lunch the church prepared tortillas, soup, rice, and tamales. This was a big deal for them because they do not have a lot. The bathrooms were an interesting experience that none of us would like to do again.

We did counseling stations and talked to the people, who lived in the village, about their faith and walk with God. We also had doctors to examine the people and get medicine for them. This was an eye-opening moment because most of these poeple had stomach pains from drinking the water that was not purefied. When praying over the people we could really feal God moving in through us to them. God even gave us the oppertunity to bring a couple of people to Christ. We are so excited to have more brothers and sisters in Christ and we hope to have as good of a day tomorrow as we did today.

We're here

Jun 10

Hola! After waking up at 5 am and riding on a plane for almost 4 hours...we have finally made it! Thank you all for the prayers for safe traveling, because they were answered!

Thankfully, there was no lost luggage and no motion sickness....today. When arrived at the airport we met up with a team from Fellowship Church who will be staying with us in the other Ministry Center for the week. We have gotten to know them and had lots of fun while playing games with them today. Herman, our amazing leader who calls himself the \"boss\", met us at the airport when we arrived in Guatemala at 1 o\'clock. From their we rode a school bus packed with luggage and people. The roads were very windey, and we got to see a lot of interesting things on our way, which made the ride go by quickly. If you think that Atlanta has crazy drivers, wait until you come to Guatemala. Herman bought us McDonald\'s Big Macs and french fries which was a good \"home away fom home\" meal. We arrived at the Ministery Center and rested, unloaded baggage, made bracelets, played games, and got to know the two German Shepherds, Nina and Stark. In other words, it has been a pretty low key day.

There was a group before our team that was from Perimeter and they left us a little tradition, and skirt...everyday one girl on our team will wear this skirt. They will journal about what experiences they had while wearing the skirt. It will bring our group closer together while creating great memories.

It has been raining here for a hour or so and some of our team memebers have gone to some sort of grocery store to stock us up on food for the week. So thankful that our Perimeter team is able to stay in the new ministry center...it is so nice! Can\'t wait for what God has in store for us tomorrow as we travel to the villages. Please continue to pray for our team as well as the Fellowship team as we start to head out to the villages tomorrow.

Much love from your Teriffic Travelers,

Guatemalan Girls.

Packing Party

Jun 08

Hi Everybody! This is Lauren Reamer and Emily McNatt and we are the designated team bloggers for our trip. We will be keeping you updated with the things that our team is involved with in Guatemala. Thanks again for your prayers and financial support. We hope you enjoy checking up on how we\'re doing and how God shows up and works in our lives during this trip.

June 7 was our packing party. During this \"party\" we packed supplies that we will be giving to the people at the Medical Mission\'s Center. We will be taking over readers glasses, tooth brushes, tennis balls, water bottles, and balloons. God  has already shown up in our trip by providing over 300 pairs of prescription reading glasses and sunglasses.  We are also bringing along 50 pairs of kids shoes!  After all this packing was finished  the elders came and we were prayed over and anointed with oil, along with teams going to Tanzania and Thailand. This prayer session brought us closer to our group and prepared us for the work God has planned for us.

We\'re all very excited because our flight is leaving for Guatemala in just two days! We will arrive at the airport at 7:00 in the morning and our flight is scheduled for 9:00 am. Please pray for a safe flight, protection, and hopefully no lost baggage.

We will keep you posted as much as possible, to show you the great things that we will be doing. You can count on Lauren and Emily to get you the latest Guatemalan news!
