Vision for 2020 by Tom Mullis

As a church, Perimeter has been on a 33-year journey of faith to do the impossible unless God is in it, to bring Greater Atlanta and all places where we serve into a life-transforming encounter with the Kingdom of God.  On that journey, Global Outreach is the way our story intersects God’s larger story of redemption in the world.  It is our privilege to bridge the two stories by mobilizing Perimeter’s resources to strategic people, places, and movements around the globe.  Bridging our story into His larger story requires three critical elements for impact: relationships, relationships, and oh yes, relationships.

Catalytic relationships with the right people in the right places make up the most critical factors for success in our vision.  We desire by God’s grace to see the national church in 20 global cities fully engaged in the process of working together to bring their city into a transforming encounter with Kingdom of God.

God is moving uniquely in our time to bring the bulk of unreached people into world-class cities through mass urbanization. If we are to successfully navigate through new Kingdom opportunities and intersect with God’s larger story, we must build catalytic relationships with the right people in global cities.  We are looking for national church leaders with a track record ofgrowth who are desiring to see their city transformed by the gospel.  Two reasons we’ve seen for cities not being transformed falls on the shoulders of the local church.  The first is a gap of leadership.  The problem is that churches in general do a poor job of taking their people from unbelief to belief, belief to maturity and finally from maturity to leadership.  Perimeter has been blessed with a core competency of life-on-life missional discipleship, by which we can help churches bridge this leadership gap.  The second gap is one of influence.  The churches together in cities are called to be salt and light in a way people can tangibly taste it and see it.  Churches working together to bless the city become an influential demonstration of the power of the gospel to change individuals, families, communities, and culture.  Perimeter has been blessed since our 25th year to be part of this kind of movement of churches in Metro Atlanta: UNITE.  With lessons learned becoming externally focused and collaborating with other churches, we can humbly come alongside our partners in global cities and help them close their own influence gap.

Relationships are everything as we endeavor to partner with churches in global cities to bridge the gaps of leadership and influence through the transformational life on life processes of missional discipleship and city collaboration.
