The Guatemalan child sponsorship program is focused in the city of Escuintla, located along the Central American country's Pacific coastline. The employment rate is very low and crime rate high in this area where it's estimated that 80% of inhabitants are at or below the poverty level. Many children suffer because there are few resident fathers and mothers have difficulty finding steady legal and moral employment. Our child sponsorship program here is a partnership with Showers of Grace Church and its inner city before and after school program, called Mana de Vida. The program serves children at high risk for dropping out and living a life in the streets. Sponsorship of $30 a month will help provide the children with tutoring, school fees and supplies, medical care, meals, clothing, and spiritual training.
