Impact

Project C.H.I.L.D. - Impact

Has there been any change? What kind of impact has there been in the lives of the students, the families, the community?

Here is a list of just SOME of the ways the lives have been impacted.

  • When the first 4th grade class took the national 4th grade exam that determines whether they will go any further school, they scored the 2nd highest in the whole region.
  • People from other parts of the country started calling wanting to send their children to this poor, village school in the middle of nowhere.
  • The second 4th grade class scored the highest in the region.
  • In the most recent class, the lowest score of the students in the school in Karanse was higher than the government school?s highest student.
  • The national average is only about 10% of students will go onto secondary school. It looks like 100% of our first class will.
  • The under six program has gained national attention and is now being used as a model for a pilot program by the government in other parts of Tanzania.
  • Simply looking at the children shows the significant improvement in their health.
  • Their English skills are excellent and they are comfortable interacting with westerners as a result of all the teams. This is an area of fear for many.
  • When the school first opened, one of the local government teachers ridiculed the school and said it would never be registered or amount to anything. Six years later that teacher came to the school to apply for a job.
  • The teachers are now well respected and leaders in the community.
  • The students believe that they can do anything. They have hopes and dreams of a future.
  • They have respect for authority.
  • They have been taught in love instead of by fear.
  • They have been showed kindness and mercy and so they treat others in the same way.
  • The parents are starting to pay school fees believing that they can make a difference and have something to offer.
  • They children, parents, and many others have received malaria and HIV/AIDS education.
  • There is so much more and the list is still growing!
