Imara School
Project C.H.I.L.D. - IMARA School
A quality education is crucial in helping to eliminate the cycle of poverty. Food, shelter, medical care are important for the short term, but education is the only way to lift someone out of his/her current circumstances.
Education is powerful. However, the quality of the education is key in making a wider and deeper impact. These schools are unique and seeing exceptional results. The children have hope and dream of a future that they never thought possible. They have desires to be doctors, teachers, pastors one day. Can you imagine a child who ten years ago was trapped in the cycle of poverty now having the desire to grow up and be able to help others emerge from destitution? Rather than growing up with an animist worldview, they are taught from a Biblical worldview and look at everything so much differently than the generation before. They are learning about Christ and who He is and that He loves them and desires a relationship with them. They see the love of Christ acted out through the love of their teachers.
And, if that was not enough, these poor village kids that no one thought could achieve anything are outscoring the rich, city kids on the national exams! The results are blowing people away. There is no limit to what is possible when a child is nurtured and developed as a person of God with unique gifts and abilities.

When Perimeter Church first partnered with Pastor Wariaelli through Imara in the village of Karansi in 2002, only 5 children in the 5 years prior has passed the national exam to continue on to secondary school (our equivalent of high school). Of those only 2 were able to actually attend. Over the past 2 years over 50 children have passed the national exam and 49 have gone on to secondary school. The scores as a school have been in the top 10% and a few of the students have been in the top 5% in Tanzania. This was Pastor Wariaelli's vision when he and Tim Neet did their first prayer walk over the land now occupied by the school. We thank God for blessing us by enabling us to be a part of this transformation as He continues his work in TZ through us.
