Questions About Journeys
What is a Journey?
Global Outreach Journeys are short-term mission trips (7-14 days), individually designed to come alongside our partners in 9 different countries, feeding into their long-term efforts. Through GO Journeys, you will have the opportunity to participate in what God is already doing among our partner ministries and communities. This is not just another trip. You will be equipped to go as learners and servants - realizing that we have much to learn from our brothers and sisters around the world. Teams consist of a leader and anywhere from 3 to 23 team members. What does the support cover?
The support you raise covers your travel costs, food, lodging, Visa, ministry expenses, and local ground transportation. Participants are responsible for passport, immunizations, personal needs and souvenirs. What will the accomodations be like?
Accommodations will range from staying in people's homes to partners' ministry centers, to the comfort of your own bed in hotels. Flexibility will be key for all participants. What about insurance?
In addition to your personal insurance, GO will provide individual insurance for the dates you will be on your GO Journey. Are there any age restrictions?
We have several journeys that are ideal for families: Cairo, Poland, Dublin, Guatemala and Tanzania are great places to introduce your children ages 11 & up to missions. The rest of the destinations are more appropriate for ages 13 & up.What about training?
Following Standards of Excellence in Short-Term Mission, Perimeter offers cross-cultural, spiritual, and logistical training as well as team building. There is a minimum of 4 sessions before your journey begins, as well as daily meetings while on the field. Once home, there will be a debriefing session/picture party. How do I pay for the trip?
Each GO Journey participant is expected to raise the necessary prayer and financial support for the trip. Support discovery training and deadlines are provided in the first training session. A common target amount is established for each team member to cover the full expenses of the Journey. (If there are 10 team members, this would be 1/10 th of the team expense). This amount covers everything that the team is approved to do while on the Journey (i.e. meals, banquets, teaching materials, translation expense, etc.) approved in that country's ministry plan and budget. While we encourage each team member to raise the target amount of support, some may raise more while other may fall short. The Global Outreach Ministry of Perimeter Church is not responsible for covering the expenses of a team member. We ask that each team member do their "due diligence" by sending out a sufficient number of support letters (minimum of 20+ for every $1,000 needed) AND by following up with those who do not respond.Where do I get a passport?
Passport applications can be downloaded from www.travel.state.gov. The passport form must be presented and signed in person at an authorized passport acceptance facility. Ones nearby include the Duluth Main Post Office on McClure Bridge Road, Norcross Post Office on Mitchell Road, or the Forsyth County Court House in downtown Cumming. Birth certificates, photo ID, and 2 passport photos are required with applications. We cover details and logistics at GO Journey Training session #1.Will I have to have any immunizations?

What do we mean by externally focused churches?
All around the world, there are pastors and Christian leaders who are beginning to think differently about what the church could and should be in their community. There is a growing awareness that effectiveness is not measured by what happens inside the church, but rather by the impact people in their church have in their cities and communities. These are externally focused churches. What do we mean by City reaching?
Mobilizing the whole church to take the whole gospel to the whole city. What do we mean by Transformation?
The redemptive change resulting from an individual, family, community, city, and culture being brought into an encounter with the Kingdom of God.A community demonstrates a transformation when:
- its people, in ever increasing numbers across ethnic and socioeconomic boundaries, are becoming members of Christ's body the Church, becoming passionately committed to Him engaging in Word and Deed ministry
- its believers' lifestyles are becoming increasingly marked by high moral standards, practicing indiscriminate love, demonstrating spiritual integrity in all their relationships, living by faith in Christ attempting faith oriented goals, and speaking the truth regardless of the consequences
- its churches increasingly work together in the unity of the Spirit, as the Body of Christ, ministering to the needs of the community, working for justice for the powerless, and reconciliation
- its educational, judicial, political, business and social structures increasingly begin to reflect being in conformity with the Word of God
