A word from the Global Outreach staff:
In Bangkok, Thailand we work with local pastors and church planters as they seek to bring the gospel to a country where less than 1% are Christians. We are partnered with local leaders who are a part of a movement around the country to bring believers from all branches of Christianity together for the furthering of the gospel in Thailand. As many people know, Thailand is a hub for human trafficking. We are partnered with a local ministry called NightLight who seeks to meet the physical and spiritual needs of women who are seeking to leave the prostitution industry. Poverty is also high in some areas of the city, and we work with one of the local churches as they seek to serve the least and the lost in the surrounding slums and neighborhoods. About Bangkok, Thailand:
Thailand means "land of the free" and throughout its 800-year history, Thailand can boast the distinction of being the only country in Southeast Asia never to have been colonized. Yet, very few in this predominately Buddhist nation have experienced true freedom in Christ. Individuals and families (age 13 and up) gain exposure to urban ministry in Bangkok, a city of 11 million people where less than 1% know Christ. In the past, we sent teams to help our partner organizations free women in prostitution and provide them with alternatives, counseling, and after-care. More recently, we have sent high school students to hang out with Thai college students. Through English conversation, Bible studies, church services, and activities like bowling and movies, their presence has created interest in the Gospel.
